3.10 Haydock, Friday, May 27
The Apollobet Bet on Lotteries Handicap (3.10) at Haydock on Friday is competitive, but Richard Fahey’s filly Giddy is held in high regard at home and, after apparently wintering extremely well, can win en route to better things. The daughter of Kyllachy scored in taking fashion on her racecourse debut, over 5 furlongs, at Beverley last August, only to disappoint (when favourite) in a valuable nursery handicap, over 6 furlongs, at Ayr last September on her only subsequent start.
She was narrowly beaten, off today’s mark of 77, by the progressive Glenrowan Rose in a fillies’ handicap over 6 furlongs on her seasonal reappearance at Ripon 12 days ago and, dropping back into 0-80 company, she deserves another chance to confirm the favourable impression she created last season. Trainer Richard Fahey was contemplating running her in a Group 3 contest on her second start last season, so she could conceivably be a handicap ‘snip’, despite facing 16 rivals.
